Clevedon AC Race Report
To 20th May 2017

The arrival of lighter nights brings with it plenty of mid-week racing.

Firstly, Clevedon AC headed to the beautiful Tyntesfield estate for a hilly, off-road 10K event. First home for Clevedon was Martin Hewlett in 44:27, followed by Laura Meech in 46:26. Next home was Helen Wood 55:30 followed by Helen Ball 57:02, Dawn Barcham 57:41 and Sally Richards 58:10.

The following night was the final race in the 5 mile Weston Prom 16/17 Series. There was a great turn-out as always with strong performances all round including a Personal Best time for Sophie Bridges. Jen Bishop was the first lady home and Steve Wood was 1st in the MV40 category. After the race, the series prizes were awarded and as in previous years, the club scooped numerous prizes. Individual prizes are based on the best 6 performances over the first 8 races. Congratulations to Laura Meech who was 2nd lady overall, Laura Croker who won the FV40 category, Helen Ball who was 2nd FV50, Steve Wood who was 2nd MV40 and Mike Andrews who was 3rd MV60. Team prizes are awarded based on performances over all 9 races in the series. Congratulations to Ladies Team Winners: Lindsey Kestle, Dawn Barcham, Laura Meech, Laura Croker, Helen Ball and Kate Millard and Mens Vet Team Winners: Nick Hides, Alex Murray, Nathan Walpole, Steve Wood, Pete Wheddon and Paul Bird.

If you want to join in with the success of Clevedon Athletic Club, please come along to a training session, whether it is the weekly circuit training at Clevedon School gym on a Monday or the running sessions on Tuesdays at Clevedon School Track and Thursdays that meet at Strode Leisure Centre.
